John Henry Robinson III is an alumnus of the High School of Music and Art and a graduate of Bronx Community College (CUNY) where he served as adjunct in the music department. In addition to his busy schedule as a Jazz, Latin and Classical bassist, Robinson plays cello and recorder, and is a composer, copyist and arranger.

​Among artists with whom he has recorded are Angel Canales, Valerie Capers, Dakota Staton, and Abby Lincoln. He has appeared on radio and television and in live concerts with Jose Alberto, Celia Cruz, Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Barretto, Tito Puente, Wynton Marsalis, and Max Roach. The multi-talented Robinson is a permanent member of the Valerie Capers Trio and Ensemble, the Salsa Machine, the Neo Bass Ensemble and Charan Salsa.
